What you've told us so far

Over the past 18 months, we've received valuable feedback from residents, helping us identify the areas that matter most in your community. We gained this feedback through Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSM's), Neighbourhood Action Weeks, Big Door Knocks, transactional surveys and more.

Here are the five key areas that have been highlighted:

  • A call for more community initiatives
  • Improved bin areas
  • Lighting concerns
  • Children's play areas
  • Add more benches

Do you agree with the five key areas above or would you like us to focus elsewhere. Tell us more by taking the survey below.

Why is your involvement important?

Your feedback ensures that Neighbourhood Plans focus on what matters most to you and your community, and helps us prioritise our resources to make sure we are meeting your needs.

We need your input to confirm if the proposed plans are heading in the right direction and to share what else you’d like to see in your neighbourhood. Your feedback will help us create Neighbourhood Commitments.

A message from Joe Williams, Director of Housing

"I encourage all residents to join in on these important discussions, whether at community events or here on Settle Connect.

Your participation is key to making sure the commitments we make genuinely reflect the needs of your community and local neighbourhood. Where we are not directly responsible for an area or service, we will aim to work with the partners to make improvements." — Joe Williams

At Settle we are relentlessly resident focused. Our aim is to provide homes residents are proud of and build communities that are welcoming to all.

Our 2030 plan has been developed by feedback from residents, colleagues, and local partners with priorities and commitments shaped by what we know is important to you and your community. Neighbourhood Plans empower you to have a say in how we deliver the 2030 vision in your area.

We believe that working together with residents and community partners can create real opportunities for positive change in your neighbourhood.

  • Grange neighbourhood action weeks update

At settle we want to help create neighbourhoods that residents feel are good places to live in.

Colleagues from settle and our Estates team spent two weeks, from 15 July to 26 July, tidying up green areas across the Grange neighbourhood. This included a litter pick and targeted clean-up efforts around Sax House, one of our independent living schemes, and the nearby block of flats on Bittern Way. We also focused on cleaning and maintaining pathways and flowerbeds.

    Supporting Older Residents

During the two weeks, we partnered with Herts Fire & Rescue to carry out safe and well visits to older residents. This paired approach enables us to offer any additional support that might become apparent during the visits.

    Community Action Day

A Community Action Day took place on 24 July at the Grange Recreation Ground, where a skip was provided for residents to dispose of unwanted household items. These items were either discarded or recycled. On the same day, settle colleagues were available to offer financial assistance and provide information about additional support partners. Representatives from the Police, North Herts Council Waste and Recycling Management Team, Letchworth Garden Shed, and Clean Kept Yard also attended, collecting unwanted items and recyclables. We assisted 17 residents who required extra help with collections. A local couple expressed their gratitude, saying:

“Thank you so much for collecting our rubbish. As we don’t have a car and are unable to physically lift some things, it’s nice to have some help.”

Joe Williams, Housing Director for settle, added: “These events are a great opportunity to collaborate with local partners, show support for our residents, gather feedback about the services we provide and help understand what’s happening in the community. We are very grateful to the residents who helped us and those who came along to talk to colleagues.”

    Big Door Knock

Every few months, we carry out our Big Door Knock, where colleagues, including members of our Executive Team and Board, go out to neighbourhoods to talk to residents so they can tell us first-hand how they feel about their homes and how we’re doing as their landlord. The Big Door Knock took place in the Grange neighbourhood between 23 July 23 and 1 August. This initiative focused on understanding residents’ experiences living in their neighbourhood, including community involvement and sense of belonging. It provided an opportunity for residents to share feedback on our services. We will be updating our website soon with resident feedback.
