Surveillance Equipment policy review
At SettleParadigm, we know that surveillance systems can play an important role in helping to prevent and respond to crime and anti-social behaviour.
Update: Under review - 8 April
Thank you for the feedback we received on our surveillance equipment policy. We received a total of 8 comments from 5 survey responses. Your contributions are essential to improving this policy, and we're currently reviewing your suggestions.
📢 Here's what we heard
- 90% of residents thought the language in the policy was clear
- 95% of residents thought the policy was easy to understand.
There were two core themes raised by residents around our surveillance equipment policy:
- Residents would value a clearer definition of what a 'communal area' is
- Residents would like more practical guidance on what surveillance equipment is allowed and where.
We're now reviewing feedback and revising the policy based on your input. We'll publish the updated version reflecting your thoughts soon.
We've outlined how we install, use, and manage surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems, vehicle dashcams, noise-recording devices, drones, and resident-owned devices like smart doorbells.
This policy explains where and why surveillance equipment may be used, and what's expected when it comes to installation, use, and legal responsibilities.
Following feedback from residents, we've included clearer guidance on when permission may be revoked for resident-owned surveillance equipment, rather than asking residents to request permission upfront.
To make sure the policy is clear, fair, and consistent, we'd love to hear from you.
Your views will help shape how we continue to support residents and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
