Pride at SettleParadigm ๐ Building a space to connect, share experiences and help us make our services more inclusive for everyone.
At SettleParadigm, we believe everyone should feel safe, respected and able to be themselves – at home, at work and in their community.
This Pride Month, we are reaffirming our commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ residents and making sure their voices are heard.
But our commitment goes beyond Pride Month.
We want to create opportunities for LGBTQ+ residents and allies to share their views, help shape our services and influence improvements. We want everyone to feel safe, respected and supported in their home and neighbourhood.
We also want to create a welcoming space where people can share their experiences and ideas. Over time, we hope to build an informal LGBTQ+ resident group that we can work with to better understand residents' experiences, gather feedback and improve our services together.
Why we're doing this
As a housing association, we know that feeling safe, respected and accepted at home has a huge impact on wellbeing. We’re committed to creating services and communities where everyone feels welcome, supported and able to be themselves.
Having an LGBTQ+ resident voice and network that we can work alongside to better understand lived experiences, gather feedback and co-design improvements to services and resident experience will help us to:
- better understand the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ residents,
- improve accessibility and inclusion across our services and service reviews,
- create safe spaces where people feel comfortable speaking openly,
- and continue building trust, visibility and a stronger sense of belonging within our communities.
We want all residents to feel comfortable accessing our services and communicating with us, whatever their circumstances or identity, because everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and at home.
Why lived experience matters
The people who use our services understand better than anyone what works well, what can feel difficult, and where things could be improved.
Listening to lived experience helps us build services that are more inclusive, accessible and responsive to the needs of LGBTQ+ residents and communities.
By creating opportunities for people to share experiences openly, we can better understand:
- What helps people feel welcomed and respected
- Where barriers or challenges may exist
- How we can improve communication and support
- What inclusion looks like in practice, not just in policy
- How we can build stronger trust and belonging within our communities
This isn’t about asking people to speak for an entire community or share anything they’re uncomfortable with. Every experience is different, and every contribution - big or small - can help shape positive change.
We’re committed to listening, learning and using feedback to improve the way we work.
Our commitment
We’re proud to have signed the HouseProud LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge, reaffirming our commitment to ensuring LGBTQ+ residents are heard and represented across SettleParadigm.
As part of this commitment, we’re continuing to:
- Strengthen relationships with LGBTQ+ residents and communities
- Improve visibility and representation across our services
- Increase colleague learning and awareness
- Review how we deliver inclusive services and support
- Work with specialist organisations and partners
Inclusion is ongoing work, and we know listening to residents and colleagues is essential in helping us improve.

๐ฃ๏ธ Have your say
We've created a short survey to help shape this work and better understand how people experience our services and communities.
Whether you're part of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally, we welcome feedback from anyone who wants to help us create more inclusive services, communities and opportunities for involvement.
The survey is designed to:
- Listen to people's experiences and ideas
- Help us understand what we're doing well and where we can improve
- Shape future services, communications and opportunities for involvement
- Ensure LGBTQ+ residents feel safe, respected and supported in their homes and neighbourhoods
The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. We value your time and only ask for your feedback where it has the potential to make a meaningful difference to the services we provide, the decisions we make and the support we offer our communities.
