Estates Standards
Have your say on our new estates standards handbook - shaped by residents, ready for your feedback
Update: 24 March
Your feedback was key in shaping improvements to our Estates Standards Handbook, helping us make sure it’s clear, practical, and reflects what matters most to you.
The handbook sets out the standards you can expect in communal areas, including how they’re maintained, inspected, and managed.
🔎 You said...
- You wanted clearer information on what happens if standards aren’t met
- It wasn’t always easy to find how to report an issue
Some areas, like grass cutting, could leave spaces looking untidy.
🎯 We did...
- Made reporting information more visible by including contact details earlier in the document, so it’s easier to find when you need it
- Updated the grass cutting section to confirm that paths and hard standings will be cleared of loose cuttings after each visit
- Added a new section explaining what happens if there’s a service failure. Where a ‘D’ grade is identified, contractors must respond within 24 hours with an action plan, and complete works within 3 days to bring standards back up to a ‘B’.
You can now view the updated Estates Standards Handbook below, reflecting the changes you suggested.

Previously
Over the last year, residents on our Customer Voice Panel (CVP) have taken a close look at how we measure and maintain communal cleaning across our neighbourhoods.
They told us they'd like:
1. A more transparent, ambitious and meaningful grading system
2. A more consistent approach to inspections.
🎯 What we've done
In response, we have:
- Redesigned our estates standards document, making it easier to read and understand
- Created a new grading system, including picture-based guides, so you can see exactly what you should expect from a well-maintained communal area.
We're now excited to share the final draft of these new estates standards with all residents.
To make sure the document is clear, easy to read and properly explains our service, we’d love your feedback.
